Retired K-9 "Thom" lost his bout with cancer and passed away on
November 15, 2009
Thom was diagnosed with cancer shortly after he did his part at Ground Zero as were many dogs that served, following the terrorist attacks on the twin towers on September 11, 2001.
Thom did not go easy and put up a great fight, showing the true traits of a Police K-9 .
He was the last surviving dog from his group that served at ground zero.
On Thom's last evening, he continued to fight long enough for his partner to awaken for
another night of patrolling the streets of Wilbraham, just to say goodbye.
Off. Brewer was able to be with Thom for just a few more precious
moments. Thom passed on quietly in the arms of his partner.
